Public Engagement with Science and Technology

Hundreds of researchers from Portuguese higher education institutions, public and private R&D organisations and entreprises participate on a voluntary basis in outreach activities, from science fairs to public conferences and TV shows to communicate science to the public and to involve citizens in the debates concerning Science and Technology.

You can become one of them and eventually choose a career in the burgeoning field of Science Communication.

Portugal has an ambitious national Public Engagement with Science and Technology program spearheaded by Ciência Viva, the Portuguese Agency for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Culture.

Ciência Viva designs, implements and finances projects of Public Engagement with Science and Technology in Portugal and coordinates a national network of 20 Science Centres that operate in close collaboration with higher education institutions, R & D performing organisations and local authorities.
